Households & Family Connections in the Personal Hub
How Personal Hub Access and Visibility Works for Household Members
In Connection Card Pro, households and family relationships don’t just organize your people —
they also control what members see and can do in the Personal Hub.
This document outlines what happens when household links are added or removed, who can manage household info, and how to keep things secure and accurate.

- ✅ The Primary Contact can manage the household even if they are not set as a manager.
- ✅ Any number of additional managers can be assigned.
Note: Household members added through the Hub may be flagged as unverified for admin review, especially when Connection Card Pro matched an existing person record or detected a possible duplicate. Admins should review these warnings before relying on the household connection.
Adding a New Household Member (from the Hub)
When a manager adds someone new to the household from their Personal Hub:
- The system checks for a match in your church’s database based on first name, last name and birthday. It'll also examine any existing relationships to find the best match.
- Based on the match result:
| Match Result |
What Happens |
| ✅ No match found |
A new person is created and immediately added to the household |
| ⚠️ Match found, but already in the same household |
The person is not added again and the user sees an error. Nothing changes. |
| ⚠️ Match found, but already in a different household |
A new person is created and added to household, warnings for possible duplicate and for unverified household connection are created, admin approval required. |
| ✅ Match found, not in a household |
Existing person is added to household and an unverified household warning is created. Admin approval required. |
🔐 Managers cannot view or edit any person until the link is approved. This protects personal data and prevents unauthorized access. Admins should review these warnings carefully, as this helps prevent accidentally exposing someone else's data to the wrong person.
Important Notes on Security
- Admins should carefully review new household links added via the hub.
- Family connections are not used to automatically trust of verify household links — even if someone is already a parent/sibling/spouse, the system will not grant access until an admin approves.
- This protects individuals in sensitive or domestic situations from unwanted household data exposure.
🔒 Never assume that a family connection implies permission to view personal details. Household links are what control visibility.
When a Household Link Changes
- If an admin removes someone from a household, they will immediately disappear from other members’ Personal Hubs.
- If a manager is removed as a household member, they lose their ability to manage that household.
✅ Best Practices for Admins
- Only assign manager access to trusted adults within a household.
- Always review the details before approving a new household connection.
- Use clear family relationship types when connecting people to clarify why they are linked.
- Avoid unnecessary household creation — especially for single individuals.
